Manuscript Submission Guidelines


EDITORIAL SCOPE


IJHCM only considers manuscript focused on different aspects of health care management. IJHCM will not publish news articles, announcements, and promotional articles.

IJHCM is very selective in accepting manuscripts for publication. All authors must verify that their manuscript conforms to IJHCM’s editorial scope and follows the submission checklist before submitting their article.

ABSTRACT AND KEYWORDS

 

See the section Article Types for word limits. The abstract should briefly outline the content of the article and any conclusions it may reach. The keywords should be wording a reader would be likely to use in searching for the content of the article.

  • Original Article: These include observational studies, randomized controlled trials, intervention studies, studies of screening and diagnostic test, outcome studies, cost effectiveness analyses, case- control series, and surveys with high response rate.
  • Review Article: The Authors submitting systematic review article should include a section describing the methods used for locating, selecting, extracting, and synthesizing data. These methods should also be summarized in the abstract.

 

  • Editorial: Editorials are solicited by the editorial board or Editor-in-Chief; should be up to 1,500 words and with no more than 15 references.

 

  • Brief Communication: The word limit for this type of manuscript is up to 2,000 words. A total of up to 20 references can be cited. A maximum of two figures/tables can be incorporated.

 

  • Letter to the Editor: These should be short and decisive observations. They should preferably be: 1. A rare, interesting new case or finding or method or observation, 2. Reply to previous letter, 3. In response to published article in IJHCM, 4. Any comment or issue/policy of public importance/breakthrough. The letter could have up to 500 words and five references. It could be generally authored by not more than four authors.

 

  • Reflection: Under this section, report of a short- or long-term training or fellowship can be submitted. This will help others to learn about important highlight of these kind of training.

 

  • Healthcare beyond Science: This section is created to deal with topics not targeting core healthcare subjects and yet highly relevant to health care professionals. Time and again, research falls short to address all dilemmas in the minds of doctors, issues that one faces on day-to -day basis. From integration of artificial intelligence platforms to clinical leadership, burn-out, physical fitness etc. there are unmet needs to touch these nuances in this journal.

 

  • Report on International Publication: This section is to highlight an article published in an international journal and comment on its relevance in the Indian landscape. You could also comment on the usefulness to our population.

 

  • Countering Controversy: It is essential that the first author of this type of manuscript is a senior faculty member. This type of article consists of invited articles which deal with an area of controversy in healthcare delivery where the

way forward is not clear and practice varies from practitioner to practitioner. The word limit for this type of manuscript is up to 1,000 words. A maximum of six authors are allowed. A maximum of ten references can be cited.

 

  • Policy brief: Policy briefs are a key tool to present research and recommendations. They serve as a vehicle for providing evidence-based policy advice to help readers make informed decisions. A strong policy brief distils research findings in plain language and draws clear links to policy initiatives. The best policy briefs are clear and concise stand-alone documents that focus on a single topic.

 

  • Perspective: This type of manuscript includes perspective on any topic of clinical relevance, management principles and controversy, recent clinical trial data, research data etc.

 

  • News: This article type offers readers latest developments in health research, techniques, treatment approaches etc.

 

SUBMISSION CHECKLIST


Be sure to review this checklist before submitting a manuscript. Only compliant submissions are considered for peer review. A manuscript is considered an appropriate submission only if it:

  1. Conforms to IJHCM’s editorial scope. The manuscript presents healthcare management research of interest to a wider audience.

 

  1. Conforms to IJHCM’s editorial format. The author provides a structured abstract that describes the following points: Goal, Methods, Results and Analysis with Conclusions. Subsequent sections in the manuscript cover Introduction, Methods, Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

 

  1. Is formatted in current American Psychological Association (APA) style. In-text citations and references list are formatted according to current APA style.

 

  1. Has followed the word limit as per the guidance for different article types. The maximum word count excludes references, tables, figures, and the Summary (structured abstract).

 

  1. Is the author’s original work. Plagiarism, of either one’s own work or that of others, will not be tolerated. IJHCM will not consider manuscripts that have been published, in whole or in part, or that have been accepted for publication elsewhere. All elements of the manuscript should be the author’s own. The author is responsible for securing permission for material from another copyrighted work. At the time of submission, the author should note any portion of the manuscript that has been disseminated electronically or otherwise.

 

  1. Is not under consideration by another publication. No portion of the manuscript can be submitted to another publication while under review at IJHCM.

 

  1. Contains up-to-date information.

 

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

 

Be sure to review this section before submitting a manuscript. Only compliant submissions are considered for peer review.

  1. Include a separate title page with the following information: (a) complete manuscript title (b) authors' full names, postgraduate degrees (not bachelor’s or master’s) and credentials, and affiliations (c) name and e-mail address of the corresponding author (d) any other acknowledgment the authors wish to include and (e) conflict of interest statement. Verify that the spelling, order, and affiliation of each author is correct.

 

  1. Remove all author-identifying information (names, initials, organizations) from the full manuscript file, including the title page and headers/footers.

 

  1. Format all references according to current APA style. Order the references alphabetically in a list following the text, and make sure every reference is cited in the article.
